Ten things I love about Omnia Intranet

Over the past two decades, I’ve implemented dozens of company intranets using many different platforms, including on-premises SharePoint Server, SharePoint Online, Valo Intranet, LiveTiles and Powell 365. Below are ten reasons that Omnia Intranet by Precio Fishbone is my favourite platform.

1 Speed.

Omnia Intranet doesn’t use SharePoint’s UI. It has its own page infrastructure engineered specifically for quick page loads.

2 Publishing Pages.

Page templates/ layouts, fixed zones, scheduling, approvals—Omnia Intranet has all the publishing features that were removed from Modern SharePoint.

3 Side Panel.

Like a Swiss Army knife, the flip-out panel in Omnia does it all—Quick Search, My Links, My Sites, Tutorials, My Alerts…

4 Rollups.

Search-driven collection widgets that you can configure to show any filtered set of Pages, Alerts, email messages, external data, and more. No coding or scripting.

5 Notification Panels.

If you like Omnia Rollups, you’ll love Notification Panels, which let you stack the latest updates in a tabbed interface. The things that need your attention are always front and centre.

6 Custom “Tutorials.”

Orientation and user adoption get a huge assist with Tutorials. Create your own site walkthroughs to give new users a quick, visual overview of how to get started.

7 Publishing Roles.

Most intranet tools grant page authors all-or-nothing control. Omnia has Designers (who can change the widgets and layout) and Authors, who can only write content.

8 Quick Search Panel.

Omnia’s Quick Search is a hyper-configurable panel with tabbed, categorized, fast searches for Sites, Pages, People, Files and more.

9 Controlled Documents.

Omnia DM (document management) is an add-on module to Omnia Intranet that provides a process-driven, controlled system for authoring, classifying and approving corporate documents.

10 SharePoint and Teams hooks.

Omnia Intranet has its own user interface, but its universal navbars can be surfaced in Microsoft Teams and in SharePoint Sites. Omnia’s widgets can also be loaded on SharePoint pages.
